Course Update!

The news everyone has been waiting for! How did the course come through this winter?

The Wilderness at Fortune Bay came through the winter extremely well with a little growth. The grounds crew pulled off all the greens covers late last week and have been mowing all of them these last several days. They are working diligently to get the course ready for you! What you see pictured below is exactly where we want to be at the start of our season.

From one extreme to the other. Exactly one year to the day comparison of the most problematic green on the golf course. Last year there was nothing to mow. This year we have full coverage and are mowing the green a second time today.

Glacial Devastation vs. Overwintered Wonderfully

All fairways and tees overwintered great. Crew currently sodding drain lines on fairway that were installed last fall. That is the activity seen in the distance on the fairway on the right hand photo.

If there is a positive to be gained from a brutal year, it is that we can take advantage of the opportunity to make long-term improvements to weaker  areas of the golf course. Drainage is messy, heavy and disruptive work.

We are looking forward to the pristine course conditions we are all accustomed to. So bring on the warmer temps and sunshine! Opening day is scheduled for May 10th. Hope to see you all very soon!
