It’s time!  The Wilderness Golf Course & Wilderness Grill will be opening Friday, May 7.  The golf course came through the winter in great shape.  It is probably in one of the best shapes it has ever been for the start of the season.  With fishing opener a week later, get the best of both, fishing and golfing!

Don’t forget to stop in for a bite to eat at The Wilderness Grill. Chef, Dakota Swanson, is sure to have something tasty on the menu for you.  The Grill will be open for lunch and dinner, Thursday through Sunday in May. 

I hope everyone is excited as I am with upcoming season. With the weather being so nice this past weekend, I just had to get out and play a few holes at one of the local courses.  It was nice to be back on the golf course and enjoy some fun times with family and friends.  I have to get my golf in when I can. 

I look forward to seeing you at The Wilderness soon and lets all have a great season.  A couple events coming up in early June just might give you a reason to stop by.

Guess who's back, back again...Golf is back, tell a friend

We've created a monster, 'cause nobody wants to see winter no more
They want to golf, they are tired of being indoors
Well if you want to golf, then that is what we’ll give ya
 
Golf season is officially open!
 
Mother nature was kind this winter...a comfortable level of snow and an early ice out, meant we were able to hit the grounds early. 
 
The greens came through winter in good shape…

Hole #16 - April

Getting to the course early, allowed us to finish up our cultural practices and move over to a few small projects...one of those projects you will see right away.  We combined the driving ranges tee, took four tees and made them two big tees…

Towards the end of April, we were able to get our first mow on greens…

All this hard work, leads to a hungry group…

May 7th came up on us quickly, and even with the weekend teased us of things to come...we still have a ways to go.  Nevertheless, we are ready and excited to have you back!!  

As always, we look forward to seeing you on the 1st tee and keep it between the trees.

WILDERNESS CHEF

Hi Everyone,
Dakota Swanson here. I am excited to have the opportunity to cook for you all this summer. I grew up right here on the Iron Range and started my culinary journey here at Fortune Bay at 18 as a dishwasher. While at Fortune Bay I was lucky enough to work with two really great mentors that gave me the opportunity to grow and taught me what I know today. This season we will be starting out with a more classic menu, but as we continue to strengthen our team, we hope to build more of our Minnesota style while incorporating flavors from around the world.
 
I look forward to meeting you all this summer at the 19th hole.
