JUNE NEWSLETTER

GENERAL MANAGER & HEAD GOLF PROFESSIONAL

Well, June is here and it feels like August!  I definitely don’t recall it ever being this warm for the beginning of June.  Let’s hope for a little temperature drop to make things a little more comfortable. If you do get out on the course when the temp is pretty high, make sure you are prepared with plenty of water.  Bring a large insulated cup (filled with ice and water) or stock up with a few water bottles to have during the start of your round to insure you can stay hydrated while out in the heat.  You can always fill up at the turn!

We have had a few successful events to start the season.  The City Auto Glass Golf Classic and Ladies Golf Day were very well attended.  Of course, it helps when the weather is nice!  The City Auto Glass event filled up very quickly and the Ladies Golf Day had the most participants in many years.  With more people getting out and enjoying golf, including participating in events, make sure to sign up early to ensure you have a spot!

Looking forward into our short season, the golf course is very busy throughout the rest of the year. Especially during the weekends.  If thinking about a visit, book your tee time as soon as possible to have the best chance to play at your desired time.  Would be great to see you and hope you have a chance to visit us!

Happy Golfing,

Ryan Peterson

GOLF COURSE SUPERINTENDENT
We are back...golf is in fulllll swing (pun totally intended).  May was a crazy month for golf! Once the snow lifted and people were able to get outside, they jumped at the opportunity.  It was great to see so many familiar faces.  On the course, it was back to routine, mowing greens, rolling greens, getting ready for daily play.

Someone needs to tell Mother Nature to make up her mind...May saw mornings in the mid-20s as late as the 28th, then 90 degrees 7 days later.  The grass didn’t know whether to shed its winter jackets or buy more.  Mother Nature must not be a Luke Bryan fan, because rain certainly doesn’t seem to be a good thing for her.  Another May with record low precipitation.

While we love to see all the golfers back and with many more to come...something that comes along with all those golfers is cart traffic and ball marks.  For those wondering how they can help out these two issues...well, when it comes to cart traffic, I’m reminded of a line my old friend Bob Frost would say, “Take the Road Less Travelled” As for ballmarks...pay it forward (underrated movie).

The course saw some record heat this weekend and had an irrigation pump scare, but we are ready for another amazing month.  Everyone’s favorite flower lady, Marilyn, is back, and you will soon be seeing the course filled with colorful arrangements. We added a few new flower areas, one (a great picture spot, if I do say so myself) is around the Wilderness sign off the back patio.

Finally, we end May with the unofficial start of summer and take a moment to remember our veterans.

DIRECTOR OF SALES & MARKETING

May has come and gone already? The golf course has been staying busy with many Minnesotans eager to enjoy all this recent warm weather. May 2020, we had more locals and less tourists than we typically have at that time. Fast forward to May of 2021, we are seeing the flux of golfers back to more normal percentages in comparison from locals and tourists. It is great to see some more normalcy again.

Now that June is here, you might as well take advantage of our promotions such as Father's Day, June 20th. Father's golf free with a paid family member! Other promotions are listed below.
